Painting on location is a rewarding experience; it teaches us to be selective and work quickly due to the many unforeseen conditions and obstacles, weather being a major factor. I have found that by producing many sketches and making notes on colours or the conditions of the day, I can then turn these sketches into paintings back in my studio.
